Determine user needs and create a redesign
TimelineJanuary 2022 - April 2022
The WMDA Search and Match service is a global environment that facilitates access to life-saving donors and cord blood products. The users of this tool are doctors and search coordinators looking for donor matches for their patient.
WMDA asked me to create a redesign of the existing tool. I started by interviewing the target group to find out their needs and the problems they face. This info, combined with the user needs and the business requirements, is the foundation of the redesign that I did.
During the user interviews one of the things we learned was users needed clear and extensive filter functionality to be able to quickly find the right donor match. It also seemed the most important information was hard to find and less important information had a too prominent position. Users didn’t experience the website as easy-to-use and found the look and feel outdated.
On this page, doctors and search coordinators can search for a donor match for their patient. They can use the extensive filters to find the right match faster.
We learned from user research that there are a few important filters needed to find the right match. These filters are easy to reach via the quick filters on top of the page.
In some cases there are more filters needed to find the right donor match. The quick filters together with the additional filters can be found under 'all filters’.
Important information related to the searches comes together on the dashboard; statuses of the searches, the overall loading time of the searches and and an overview of the busyness per day.
Let’s discuss how I can improve your website, app or interface!
